Freeze-dried chocolate bars are well-known bars, freeze-dried. We have three: Milky Way, Snickers and Twix. Below we compare how they taste, what's inside and what to watch out for if you have allergies.
What happens to a bar in the freeze dryer? 🍫
On the outside, bars change less than gummies or candy. Most of the change happens inside: nougat and caramel puff up and turn as brittle as meringue, and the milk chocolate cracks on top. The bar gets lighter and nothing sticks to your teeth. We freeze-dry them ourselves, in Poland. We cover the process in our guide what freeze-dried sweets are.
Freeze-dried bars compared 🔍
Every pack weighs 50 g and costs 23.99 zł.
| Bar | What's inside | After freeze-drying |
|---|---|---|
| Milky Way | fluffy nougat | the lightest, like meringue |
| Snickers | nougat, caramel, peanuts | brittle, the peanuts stay crunchy |
| Twix | caramel and biscuit | the most caramel, three crunchy layers |
Milky Way
Bars with fluffy nougat in milk chocolate. They have no nuts or caramel, so after freeze-drying they're the lightest and fluffiest of our bars. The taste stays sweet and milky.
Snickers
Pieces of Snickers where the caramel and nougat lose their chewiness. The peanuts stay crunchy, so it tastes exactly like a regular Snickers, just without anything sticking to your teeth.
Twix
Pieces of Twix, each with three layers: brittle caramel, crunchy biscuit and cracked milk chocolate. The pick for caramel fans. We cover more caramel sweets in our post on caramel after freeze-drying.
Milky Way and Snickers are among our bestsellers.

Freeze-drying removes water but doesn't change the ingredients. A freeze-dried bar is no better for you than a regular one.
Allergens in the bars ⚠️
All three bars contain milk and soy. Snickers contains peanuts. Twix contains wheat and Milky Way contains barley malt extract, so both contain gluten. Milky Way and Snickers also contain egg white. The bars may contain traces of nuts too: Milky Way of peanuts and hazelnuts, Snickers of hazelnuts, and Twix of hazelnuts and almonds. Check the full ingredients on the product page before you buy.
How to store freeze-dried bars 🔒
Chocolate softens in the warmth, so keep the bag somewhere cool and dry, away from sunlight and the cooker. Don't put it in the fridge, because the bars will pick up moisture there and condensation forms on them when you take them out. There's more in our guide on how to store freeze-dried sweets.
